Although I lean toward writing paranormal-romance- thrillers with vampires, werewolves, ghosts, etc., I tried my hand at a sci-fi horror story with aliens and am getting a great response in reviews. Already having earned a 5 star award, here is one of the reviews from Reader's Favorite:

In They by Eileen Sheehan, Jodie Mercer arrives in rural Arizona to run a veterinary clinic, finding livestock being killed by methods nothing earthly could produce. Investigating with wildlife ranger Bill Lathem, the evidence points to extraterrestrials beneath the desert, and a species called the Zeltians conducting the covert harvesting of life. A second alien group, the Malderians, observes the operation and intervenes selectively, viewing humans as merely expendable. Bill is abducted, pulling Jodie into direct contact with those whose conflict is already unfolding on Earth. Lost time and recovered evidence make Jodie a critical witness in an accelerating countdown. With an alien vessel preparing to leave the planet, Jodie must stop their departure that would take innocent people as cargo into space.
They by Eileen Sheehan is a science fiction horror story that forced me to keep the hall light on every night for a week. I hate to say that I had to keep putting it down because that is usually a bad thing, but in this case, the story is so terrifying that I needed breaks. Alien novels that involve the Greys tend to feel more real because, due to the prevalence of true stories, fictional accounts fall within what many consider to be the realm of possibility. This is what Sheehan does, and it is brilliant, especially since she gives us multiple points of view. The author then expands the speculative scope by disrupting a simple human-versus-alien structure. We meet the alien Olliem, whose presence reframes Earth as a contested territory, not an alignment with human priority. It intelligently flips the entire “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” trope. With solid writing and a narrative with the wings to carry it into a series, lovers of classic science fiction will adore this book. Very highly recommended.
They is available on pre-order and will be live on February 3, 2026.
